Interaction with Human

The Human Interaction Department brings together researchers and teacher-researchers from 6 internationally renowned teams: AMI, AVIZ, CPU, EX-Situ, ILDA and VENISE. It focuses on human-machine interaction with a multidisciplinary approach combining computer science, signal processing and humanities, to design not only innovative hardware and software interfaces but also to explore social interaction and collaboration between humans and computers.

The research teams of this department explore multiple forms of interaction (visual, tangible, haptic, auditory, gestural…), multimodal and multi-surface interaction, interactive information visualization and data analysis, virtual or augmented reality, image, video and motion analysis, affective and social interactions, modeling of human behavior and activity, collaborative interactions in co-located or remote situations, interactions in situations of disability (motor, perceptual and cognitive), etc.

The range of this research allows the department to develop work that is both fundamental, by studying the phenomena at play during these interactions, application-oriented, to assess the relevance of these models and certain devices in their real use, and methodological, on the design and evaluation aspects.
