L’équipe ExSitu explore les limites de l’interaction en étudiant des utilisateurs « extrêmes », tels que les professionnels créatifs, artistes et designers qui repoussent les limites de la technologie pour atteindre leurs objectifs créatifs, ou les scientifiques qui essaient de comprendre les phénomènes complexes par l’exploration créative de données complexes.
L’étude de ces utilisateurs permet non seulement d’anticiper les besoins des usages routiniers de demain, mais aussi de mieux comprendre le phénomène de l’interaction lui-même et de créer de nouvelles formes d’interaction. Le but de l’équipe est de créer des partenariats humains-machines permettant aux utilisateurs de maîtriser la technologie, fondés sur des principes issus de l’approche théorique de l’interaction développée dans l’équipe.
